There is nothing prettier than a soybean field that is about knee high. But when you look out on that field and you see those pigweeds sticking through that canopy that really bothers me. I like my fields to be nice and clean.

I farm because it is just a passion of mine. I have always wanted to farm ever since I was small and it is just something; I cannot dream of doing anything else.

We first started noticing herbicide resistant weeds on our farm probably about four or five years ago. We were getting just a few escapes here and there. It has rapidly increased over the last few years.

Hal Bateman

Our biggest problem weeds that we deal with now would be pigweed and ragweed. We have a hard time controlling those.

Hal Bateman

Residual herbicides are very important on our operation because they help prevent weed escapes. Without those, we would have to do a lot of hand weeding.

Hal Bateman

We don't have a problem with transitioning from this product to another. We grow several different crops, so we are continually changing products back and forth. Tank cleaning is just a common part of our operation.

Spraying the Dicamba you need to abide by the rules. You need to do it when winds are less than 10 mph and greater than 3. Usually if you can get a 5 mph wind I'd consider that ideal.

We are very careful to avoid off target movement. We have buffers in place between the fields. We also use drift retardants and use the TTI 11004 nozzle that makes really large droplets. All of these things combined will usually keep your product where you want it.

We have grown Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans now for three years. They have done very well. Roundup Ready PLUS® Crop Management Solutions does a first class job controlling weeds that we have a lot of trouble with.

Hal Bateman

What we have seen over the last three years is that there is no yield drag. The soybeans are just as good as the soybeans we already have and even better.

Hal Bateman

Farmers need Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans because it is getting harder to make a living farming. That product will enable us to grow a crop a little bit more efficiently.

Hal Bateman

I think the industry needs Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans because we have a growing population. We need to be able to grow soybeans in an economical fashion.

Hal Bateman

We want to grow Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans because if you are going to be an efficient producer, you need to be on the cutting edge. You need to always be looking to improve your operation. And I think that Roundup Ready 2 Xtend™ soybeans will allow us to do that.
